Raymond Byrne

Ray holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Sydney and a Masters Degree in Applied Family Law from the College of Law and has completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the College of Law with Distinction.

Ray was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia in July 2012, is a member of the Law Society of NSW, a member of the Family Law section of the Law Council of Australia and keeps up to date with relevant Law Reform.

Ray began his career at a firm in Queensland while living in Sydney commuting each week moving back to Sydney to build the firms presence in, and supervising the national Family Law team from, Sydney.

He is passionate about seeking justice for his clients and, with over 30 years of business and customer service experience, he knows how to deal with unexpected situations. Ray is an advocate for Alternative Dispute Resolution and will use all his wits, skill and guile to convince the other side to reach an amicable settlement.

This is not to say Ray will not take the fight to the court, just that he prefers to reach negotiated settlements in Family law matters. While he was studying, Ray clerked for a Barrister and this experience has been invaluable. He has the experience required to guide his clients through the legal process.

Ray has appeared in the Criminal, Family and Civil jurisdictions and performs with great distinction. Ray’s legal strength is definitely in Family Law however, a better advocate in a criminal hearing you will be hard pressed to find. He is tenacious and has a mind like a steel trap – nothing escapes him and he has brought many prosecutions to their knees with his skilful and well timed cross examination. He works tirelessly for his clients to ensure they obtain the maximum benefit possible starting in the office at 4 am when required and finishing late into the night. Quite often on the same day. As he says so often, ‘I tell my clients all the time that I’ll work day and night for them to obtain the maximum result possible. I hate losing.’

To stay focussed and maintain his equilibrium, Ray shares his spare time between his favourite passions, relaxing with his wife, 7 Children, 13 Grandchildren and everything Rugby Union.
